Design & Development Associates have secured planning permission for a single storey rear extension and new rear dormer to a bungalow in Wimborne.
The scheme was to undertake a pitched roof rear extension to the existing kitchen to increase habitable space and all important worktop area. In addition to this, our client wanted to increase head space for the two bedrooms and bathroom they have at first-floor level. Our solution was a new rear dormer to increase usable headspace throughout these rooms. To reduce the impact of this dormer, our designers stepped in the dormer from the eaves to look less imposing on the rear elevation, and not to conflict with the pitched roof extension.
As the property had been extended historically, Poole Borough Council wanted the proposal to be dealt with via a householder planning application. We undertook a measured survey of the property and produced existing floor plans and elevations to show the council the current arrangement. Once complete, we undertook a design proposal for the new floor plans and elevations and submitted this to the local authority. The scheme was approved 8 weeks later under delegated powers.
