Design & Development Associates have secured consent for a bungalow to be converted into a house in the popular Pound Lane in Poole. The client initially wanted to have a loft conversion to add two further bedrooms and a living area to their property in Oakdale. Upon undertaking an assessment however, it become apparent that the bungalow could be turned into a house due to its position within the street scene. By converting into a house, the client benefited from doubling the floor area of the property, and had no restricted head height like conventional loft conversions. The scheme was to undertake a two storey extension to allow for a ground floor self contained annex to the existing dwelling. Approved: Contemporary re-model of a bungalow in St Leonards

Design & Development Associates have secured planning permission for a contemporary overhaul of a bungalow in St Leonards. Our client wanted to overhaul a bungalow to create a stunning contemporary property, which is set in a well proportioned corner plot. Our remit was to design a property with a large kitchen/ living area overlooking the garden, a new lounge/media room, an integral garage and a ground floor bedroom with en-suite. At first floor level our client wanted 4 double bedrooms with a minimum of 3 en-suite and a large bathroom. On top of this our client wanted a large gallery entrance to give that all important wow factor! Design and Development Associates have secured planning consent for a single storey rear extension and loft conversion in Gervis Road, Bournemouth. The scheme was to undertake a single storey pitched roof rear extension and a new loft conversion to the property, in order to increase the living space to the rear and create an office at second floor level. The site had a few constraints to overcome, firstly the site is located within the East Cliff Conservation Area Boundary so any proposal had to enhance and preserve the conservation area. Secondly the site had skewed boundaries to the rear, so no straight building lines could be established. When undertaking our measured survey we carefully plotted on the rear boundaries and produced a design that could incorporate the skew while maximising usable space internally. To be in keeping with the conservation area, we specified conservation veluxes throughout and matched roof tiles to the main house to reduce any potential impact. We submitted plans on behalf of our client as a householder planning application and worked with the local authority to secure the consent for our client. We are now preparing Building Regulation compliant plans and working with engineers so the build can commence at the end of January.
